Use this option when a customer's card chip or magnetic stripe isn't working, or when processing a card-not-present transaction (phone orders, etc.).
Step-by-Step Process For Manual Card Entry:
Step 1: Ring Up the Sale
In your POS app, ring up the items and tap 'Credit' to initiate payment.
Step 2: Select Manual Card Entry
On your cashier screen, tap the 'Manual Card Entry' button.

Step 3: Enter Card Information
The customer enters their card details on the Clover screen, tapping 'Enter' after each field:
- Card number
- CVV code (security code)
- Expiration date

Step 4: Signature
The customer signs on the touchscreen and taps 'Done'.

Step 5: Receipt Options
Either the customer or cashier completes the transaction by selecting a receipt option (email, print, or no receipt).

Important Security Notes:
⚠️ PCI Compliance: For security reasons, card information must always be entered on the Clover device by the customer—never on your POS terminal or by staff.
⚠️ Manual entry may need to be enabled in your device settings. To check:
- Exit the payment app (tap all 4 corners)
- Go to Setup > Payments
- Enable "Manual Card Entry" option

- Clover Station/Station Duo: Customer enters info on the customer-facing screen
- Clover Mini: Single screen, customer rotates device toward them
- Clover Flex: Handheld device passed to customer
