Let’s get your Community Card some press! Shopping local is a hot topic and your local newspapers, bloggers and social media influencers are looking for clever holiday-related stories that spread the season’s joy. Now is the time to work with your local press to get the word out – and we’ll make that easy for you in this Best Practice.
- Send a press release to your local news outlets - Reach out to your local press with an update on the "Shop Local Movement.” You'll find a Holiday Press release full of recent trends and data in our Holiday Marketing Kit. Add your local flair and give your newspaper a call. Set up interviews for them with one of the merchants in your program and perhaps your mayor.
- Local blogs, websites and social media - Many cities have blogs, websites and social media that feature local establishments and events, like Parks and Recreation, town calendars, Nextdoor, Patch and others. Send them your press release or offer to write an article or posts for them about the merchants in your program and how your Community Card is making an impact this season.
- Don't forget influencers- We've seen communities give Community Cards to local influencers so they can do giveaways on social media with their followers. This is a totally different target audience than traditional media and is definitely worth exploring. You can set expiration dates on these gifts to recoup unused funds.
